Hello All,
The past ten days have been a bit of a whirlwind. Jon and I just arrived back at our apartment on good old 54C Hillhead, and boy, are we totally shattered. Sleep deprived, smelly, and broke, we now return to a much more “normal” routine—the routine of living like a responsible human being and actually working and sleeping now and then.
In ten days, we have explored four distinctly different cities—all with their own separate languages, climates and cuisines. We have traveled by plane (five times), bus, taxi, train, tram, metro, and bicycle. We have also walked across city, beach, and countryside, sometimes for ten miles at a time, and probably seen about twenty museums and thirty national monuments. We have taken many pictures.
So all in all, it’s been worth it. We’ve got dozens of travel stories to share, and hopefully some of them will make it into our next few posts. Jon commented to me as we were standing in line waiting for our flight back to Glasgow that he was just about ready to be done—that the length of our trip had been perfectly timed so that we reached our peak level of exhaustion on the last train ride home. I would say that I wholeheartedly agree—I can’t wait to sleep in the same bed for more than two nights and not worry that my mattress might be infested with bed bugs. I can’t wait to shave, use shampoo, and put on some new clothes for once. To put it plainly, I’m glad our fifth destination this fall break is Glasgow. It’s good to be home.
The next few posts will cover each of the four places we’ve visited in more detail. Hope the read is enjoyable—if I don’t exhaust myself in the process, it will certainly be fun to write and recap.
